Glasgow Schools Championship 2025

We want to introduce you to a Schools Race event we are running in June. We think this is something your young people will be interested in and enjoy. See the information below and If you require any further information or advice don't hesitate to call the club.

 


 

SAVE THE DATE - Friday the 6th of June - 

We wish to invite you to participate in the first annual Glasgow Schools Ski Race Competition. This event will be open to both Primary and Secondary High Schools in the Glasgow and East Renfrewshire area. Join in this fun event where you can race for yourself and for your school. 

 

Entry Criteria

This event will be an individual competition which will also score points for your School.

Entries must be competent skiers who are able to ski confidently down the main slope at Bella (high level 4 skiers and above.) Please ensure that children are performing at the top end of Level 4 before entering, racers should be able to link parallel turns and can display competitive style skiing, this is for safety reasons only.

 

Participants will have two timed runs in a Slalom Course and two timed runs in a GS Course. The best time from each course is added together to give an overall time.

Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Boy or Girl in each category.    

 

Categories - 

Primary School Competition is open to Primary 4 - 7.

 

The High School competition will be open to 2 different pools.

Pool 1 - S1-S3

Pool 2 - S4-S6   

 

The total number of entrants is limited to a maximum of 60 Primary School and 60 High School participants.   

 

Race Entry Information and Acceptance

The entry fee for this event is £20.00 per person. Entry will be taken online from the 1st of April. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the race organisers and if accepted will be subject to an additional fee of £10.00. Entries should be submitted by the closing date of 2nd of June 2025.





 

Programme

The race will be a slalom and GS consisting of 2 runs down each course. The times given below are provisional and may alter on the day, but to meet the tight timescales please ensure that you are ready to start on time and listen carefully for any announcements.

Every attempt will be made to keep to the event schedule; however, the organisers reserve the right to amend the schedule as appropriate.  Two teams will run each event allowing us to process results and deliver prize giving after each event. 

 

Race Rules / Health & Safety 

  • Racer assistants (e.g. parent) will not be allowed in the Start Area because of the restricted size of the start area and the impact of overall numbers. GSC Staff will look after all racers at the top of the slope. 

  • Racers will comply with the skiers code of conduct. 

  • GSC will accept no responsibility for valuables left unattended.  

  • All skis must be stored in ski racks and not left at the entrance to the slopes or left unattended on the slope.  

  • GSC bar/cafe will be open to participants of the event. 

 

Notes

• Racers will be advised of the method of inspection prior to the start of course inspection.

 

Awards

Category awards for 1st 2nd 3rd Male & Female will be awarded.

Awards will also be presented to the best Primary and High School.  

Points will be awarded in order of the finish sheet, with the highest points being awarded to the winner and working down from there. 

 

The school with the most points allocated will win the School Trophy for 2025. 

Each position within the results will hold a points value and from this, the top 1 - 4 pupils accumulated from each school will determine the Overall School Winner. 

 

This will be a recurring trophy that will be passed around the School winner each year. 

A trophy will be awarded to the best Primary and High School.  

 

Withdrawals

Following entry into the race, there will be no refunds given after 5 days in the lead up to the event. 

 

First Aid

First aid cover will be provided by Glasgow Ski Centre Staff.
